What's your question?

Frequently asked questionsI currently have an occurrence policy. Is it wise to switch to claims-made? This is a matter of preference. The majority of the professional liability marketplace in our country is written on a claims-made basis, not occurrence. Most medical doctors, dentists, attorneys, and other professionals carry claims-made because they make more sense in our current insurance climate. Most doctors who still have an occurrence policy chose it because that's what they were taught, years ago, in school. But it's best NOT to rely on outdated information when it comes to protecting your practice and family assets. Want to know what the premiums will be on your CBS RPG policy? Fill out this "Quick Quote" form and we'll let you know. Then you can see for yourself how competitively priced really GREAT coverage can be! >> Learn more about claims-made vs. occurrence policies. Why should I switch to CBS Malpractice? Here are five top reasons: 1. You will gain a very comprehensive policy that covers you from every angle: board defense for patient-related complaints, sexual misconduct defense, HIPAA defense, consent-to-settle clause, first aid coverage, vicarious liability coverage and more. Does your current policy offer all this? 2. You will get consistent risk management advice through articles posted online, as well as by phone at your request. You deserve exceptional client service and, with CBS, that's what you get. 3. Your policy will adhere to underwriting criteria and clinical guideline standards that support every type of practice. Your care will NOT be judged by medical necessity or medical standards. 4. Your policy will be backed by multi-billion dollar underwriters with "A" ratings and 40 offices strategically located throughout the US to handle your needs. 5. You will be supporting a chiropractor-owned company created to support you, not a medical insurance program or commercial insurance program. Does it really matter to me that CBS doesn't support or utilize the MERCY conference guidelines? Absolutely! Sadly, the Mercy guidelines only support chiropractic based on "medical necessity" that doesn't take all chiropractic practice objectives into consideration. That's one reason the guidelines were rejected by nearly every chiropractic organization in the country -– and why they weren't even endorsed by the organizations that had originally supported the conference. Instead, CBS was instrumental in funding the efforts to create a set of evidence-based chiropractic clinical guidelines that supported all practice objectives from the most conservative to the very broad-scoped practice. Those clinical guidelines -- the Council on Chiropractic Practice's "Vertebral Subluxation in Chiropractic Practice"-- validate care for every man, woman and child based on the presence of vertebral subluxation. They never attempt to put a cookbook number on frequency or duration of care or apply "medical necessity" criteria. Unlike Mercy, the CCP guidelines have been included in the National Guideline Clearinghouse of the US Government. If you go to court, do you want your practice objectives and care to be judged by the Mercy Guidelines? Do you want to be represented by an insurance company that funded the Mercy guidelines and therefore are almost by necessity going to be applying them to your case? Your quote was quite a bit less that I got from another company. Why? Our premiums are based on several factors including the number of hours you practice each week, your claims history, and even your location. Unlike most chiropractic insurance companies, CBS RPG recognizes that different doctors are exposed to different levels of risk and adjust our premiums accordingly. Plus, our underwriter is an extremely large and financially stable company, the 7th largest U.S. commercial insurer with assets of close to $60 billion. That enables us to keep our program very competitively priced based on the true litigation experience in each particular state and county. The quote I received from CBS was similar to what I am paying now. Why should I switch? Although price is a factor, it's not the only one. In fact, it's not even the most important one. A "cheap" policy with poor coverage isn't a bargain -- it's a disaster waiting to happen. If you choose a less expensive policy that doesn't cover defense for sexual misconduct allegations, what will happen if you are accused of such misconduct? You could be sued for millions and brought up before the board. Without insurance coverage, you could be facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawyer fees. All because you wanted to save a few hundred dollars on premiums. It isn't worth it! CBS also is the only company underwritten by CNA Insurance, which has been a leader in the insurance industry for more than 100 years! CNA is highly rated for financial strength by all the major independent rating agencies and has become one of the most trusted names in insurance. Finally, CBS offers top client services.
